I’d like to say that spring is in the air, but I would be lying as currently I am wearing three layers of clothes and tights under my jeans, but it IS February which is usually the light at the end of the winter tunnel month and thoughts turn to the new season and what exciting things we can buy… My love for all things Gucci has not diminished during the winter months, I have recently discovered the Gucci men’s collection, the sweatshirts are so good and those furry loafers I have
As always, bumping into Rachael is a highlight of my day. Forever inspiring and individual, she is a constant reminder to find your style and own it. ps. I love how her tee is a reinforcement of last week’s When Fashion Matters piece. You can read more about Rachael’s wardrobe (here). Warning: This post is for small bag lovers only. I feel like women fall into two camps. We are either a big bag or a small bag girl. Not in-between. This post is for the latter. Que the Simon Miller Bonsai bag. It is completely impractical. It is teeny and it is hand held and I absolutely love it. Like the mules post published below or (or click here), words like ‘lady-like’ and ‘classic’ spring to mind. It’s finished in simple hand-tanned French leather

So, 2016 is over. It wasn’t a classic year in general was it? and that is putting it mildly, but let’s not dwell on the miserable stuff for now, let us just reminisce about a year of fabulous fashion. Let’s take a little walk through in particular, my favourite fashion buys of 2016. If I’m being honest this could all be just about shoes, as for me 2016 was the year of the designer shoe, mainly the Gucci designer shoe. I splashed out maybe a little too much, it’s my weakness, but I do think
Why is it that every time New Year’s swings around, companies assume I want to morph into a glittery dress with sky high heels? I just watched a segment on The Today Show about What To Wear for New Years Eve and even though the clothes are new, it all felt dated. Women stepped out (with the obligatory hand on hip), twirled and didn’t break a smile while dressed in the shiniest baco foil-like outfits. Sequins, glitter, chain mail in silver or gold lurex. It was all there. Then
Christmas shopping starts so well. There I am, one of the sea of smiling faces under the twinkling lights of Oxford Street, light of foot and swell of heart, humming along to Jingle Bells. Two hours later shopping is abandoned and I’m sobbing into a Starbucks hot chocolate, ranting about the evils of capitalism. Yes, the really organised will have done all their Christmas shopping months ago, rounding everything off in the Black Friday sales. But if you still haven’t shopped yet, follow
You´ve just come up for air after the most frantic sales shopping weekend of the year (until next month at least). Look in your closet and what do you see? A dress two sizes too small by a designer you love? Shoes with heels so dangerously high you couldn´t make it to the front door, never mind out for the night, while wearing them? These, fashion sisters, are our Black Friday/Cyber Monday mistakes. However savvy we might consider our shopping habits, we´ve all done it, whether surrounded
Until this season I was never really much of a fan of velvet. It only served to remind me of two moments in my youth that I would rather forget…First up, I once wore a brand new velvet Bomber jacket to a nightclub and promptly had someone throw up all over it. It was never the same despite a serious deep dry clean, plus I was forced to walk home in it as it was proper freezing that night. Secondly, I had a lovely purple velvet suit back in the 90’s (it was cool, honest, I was definitely
I can’t stand holiday party dresses. I did it for a five minutes when into clubs, but now a cross between tomboy and chic casual is edgier and ironically feels younger to me. Sequins fills the void if done effortlessly. Only ‘rule’ – keep everything undone. Keep it loose, messier and contrasted with basics. Messed up imperfect hair and the either/or red mouth or slick of eyeliner (my fave linked) = done. You are very welcome… River Island sequin pencil
Right now I am in North Carolina with friends about to eat my own body weight in turkey, roast potatoes, macaroni and cheese, soup and desserts. In the mean time here is my list of the best black friday sales and my picks from some of them. Check back later on today and tomorrow because this list WILL get longer. Happy shopping and see you later! Banana Republic – 50% off sale Forever21 – Additional 50% off sale GAP – 50% off everything code TGIF50. This rainbow sweater
EVERYONE buys too much of something. Shoes, bags, maybe the same color over and over? For me it’s shoes (shocker). I can’t help it. It’s the first place I look on the sale section of websites and it’s the first thing that you see when you walk into our bedroom. But I am basics deficient. I lack simple polo necks, quality t-shirts and plain thin knits for layering. I am the polar opposite of a minimalist who has one stylish rack with ‘key luxe essentials’
